Festivalimpressions 2018 - Monday, 26.11.

The film festival visited a local school (Gewerbliche Schule) to show Iram Haq’s film “What will People say”.

After the screening, Sandra Stopper who is an expert from TERRE DES FEMMES talked with the pupils about the concept of honor, as it e.g. exists in Pakistan’s society and the resulting violence against women and girls…

…and informed about contact points for affected girls in Germany.

Following the event, teachers and the TERRE DES FEMMES team talked about the potential of films for political education and discussed how women’s rights issues can be worked with in schools in the future.

Upon invitation form the student organization Querfeldein, festival guest Shakila Ebrahimkhil spoke at Ribingurumu about her personal life journey and the situation in Afghanistan.

She talked about her engagement for the freedom of press and human rights in a cozy living-room like atmosphere.

Shakila Ebrahimkhil was one of the first women to study Journalism after the end of the Taliban-regime. After her studies, she helped to build up Tolo News which is the biggest private channel in Afghanistan.

The Austrian blogger and journalist Emran Feroz, who studied Politics and Islamic Studies in Tübingen, assumed the role of interpreter that evening.
