In the documentary „Cut: Exposing FGM Worldwide”, director John Chuauncovers that FGM occurs on all inhabited continents as an indigenous practice. Following the screening at Kino Museum, John Chua gave insights into his 10 year work of research for the project.
His conclusion: Despite varying justifications for FGM in the different communities, it always revolves around controlling female sexuality.


Following the screening of ”Invisible”, gynecologist Dr. med. Gabriele Halder spoke about the fight for the legalization of abortion in Argentina and the current situation in Germany.


She drew attention to the disastrous information situation in particular, with which many women see themselves confronted: Only in Berlin and Hamburg the senate provides official lists with contact information of doctors who carry out abortions.


The film “A Letter to the President” was shown in cooperation with the ZONTA Club Tübingen. It is he first feature film made by a woman in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban regime.


In the evening, director Roya Sadat and screen writer and actor Azis Dildar were our guests.


During the audience discussion, they inform about the problematic security situation in Afghanistan and the difficulties it meant for filming.


They also talked about the important function of cultural work for society and the situation of women in Afghanistan. The divorce law for example favors the husband so that women often get separated from their children in case of a divorce.


Our two guests from Afghanistan continued to answer audience questions in the cinema´s foyer after the audience discussion.
