Sister Fa, protagonist of the documentary „Sarabah“ in conversation with students of the Wilhelm-Schickard School of Tuebingen.

As in her visits to schools in Senegal Sister Fa speaks openly with the students about the practice of Genital Cutting and Sexuality.

School director Mr. Maurer also takes time out for a conversation.

At the end a group foto with the students...

and as well one with the committed team of the Wilhelm-Schickard-School

Filmfestival Director Irene Jung hands over a DVD-Edition for schools to school director Mr. Maurer with 10 selected fiction and documentary films that refer to issues of developmental strategies related to human rights of women. The selection consists of films from 13 years of Women's Worlds Filmfestival program. Also present is Bernd Wolpert from EZEF (Evangelical Center for Developmental Film Work) which has cooperated with the filmfestival for the edition of the DVD and a film broschure for „Pray the Devil Back to Hell“

“The Jungle Radio – Palabra de Mujer” – Mathilde Weber school Tuebingen, Monday, 25th November, 2013

The vice-principal Thea Cailleux and Irene Jung give an introduction to the film “The Jungle Radio – Palabra de Mujer”, about an independent radio station of the women’s organization in Bocana de Paiwas, Nicaragua, which is successfully active, but with many hindrances, against violence against women.

In front of 170 students Irene Jung is explaining the connection with Tuebingen: after Hurricane Mitch, money was collected in Tuebingen by a small association of supporters for educational projects in Nicaragua, in order to rebuild the destroyed houses for the women in Bocana de Paiwas – 16 houses could be built through this support.

The women from Bocana de Paiwas took that opportunity to announce that they wanted to establish a women's radio station. Even more fascinating to be able to see now in the movie what success this commitment brought about.

The students are curious about the movie…

… that will take them along to the pathless jungle landscape of Nicaragua.

After the movie there is a chance to hand over a DVD-edition for the Mathilde Weber School to the vice-principal, Thea Cailleux.

In front of the portrait of the women’s rights activist Mathilde Weber, Irene Jung explains which additional didactical material is included with the films.

“Good Morning Karachi” – Wilhelm Schickard school, Monday, 25th November, 2013

Sabiha Sumar and Bernd Wolpert from the Protestant Center for Developmental Film Work are arriving together with the festival team at the Wilhelm Schickard school of Tuebingen, where a school screening of “Good Morning Karachi” is going to take place.

Sabiha explains to the students why of all things, the fashion and media world became a bastion against the growing Islamic fundamentalism in her country…

Students and teachers are listening to her under a spell.

“Good Morning Karachi” – Geschwister Scholl school, Tuesday, 26th November, 2013

Also at the Geschwister Scholl school 40 students are able to watch “Good Morning Karachi” and talk to the director Sabiha Sumar, who is the first independent director ever in Pakistan and at that time the only female director in her country.

The students are posing a lot of questions…

… that are answered in detail by Sabiha – who also studied social sciences –

in this way the conversation turns into a fascinating lesson about Pakistan’s history and the situation of women in an Islamic society

Sabiha’s talk offers some surprises, for instance that in pre-Islamic times a matriarchy prevailed in Pakistan.

Great recognition for Sabiha and her daughter Mizsha

… who also plays a small role in the film and accompanies her mother on this interesting journey. She sees a German school from the inside for the first time – and discovers her first snow.
